NYC Exhibition Printing for NYCxDESIGN

June 1, 2026

Every spring, New York City becomes the center of the global design community during NYCxDESIGN, the citywide festival that brings together designers, architects, artists, institutions, and innovators from around the world. With hundreds of exhibitions, installations, product launches, and public programs taking place across all five boroughs, presentation quality matters. For organizations participating in NYCxDESIGN, professionally produced exhibition materials help transform ideas into engaging experiences.

For the 2026 NYCxDESIGN Festival, Design Trust for Public Space partnered with Bestype to produce custom presentation books and large-format exhibition graphics for The Neurodiverse City, an ambitious project focused on making New York City’s public spaces more accessible and welcoming for neurodivergent individuals.

About Design Trust for Public Space

Design Trust for Public Space is a New York City-based nonprofit organization dedicated to unlocking the potential of public spaces throughout the city. Through collaborations with designers, community organizations, advocates, policymakers, and researchers, Design Trust develops innovative solutions that help create a more equitable, inclusive, and accessible urban environment.

Their work has influenced parks, streetscapes, public facilities, transportation systems, and community spaces throughout New York City.

About The Neurodiverse City Exhibition

The Neurodiverse City project, led by Design Trust for Public Space in collaboration with Verona Carpenter Architects, WIP Collaborative, AHRC NYC, and a network of disability advocates, explores how public spaces can better support neurodivergent users.

Neurodivergent individuals—including people with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, intellectual disabilities, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other cognitive differences—often face barriers when navigating public environments. Traditional approaches to urban planning frequently overlook the sensory, social, and cognitive diversity that exists within our communities.

The exhibition showcased research, design prototypes, sensory audits, and community feedback gathered throughout the project. Featured displays included a neuroinclusive public space prototype developed in Lower Manhattan and a sensory playscape concept created in partnership with NYC Public Schools.

Presented at Positive Exposure Gallery during NYCxDESIGN, the exhibition invited visitors to engage with new ideas for creating more accessible public spaces and highlighted recommendations for neuroinclusive urban planning.

The Printing Challenge

To support the exhibition, Bestype was tasked with producing a series of high-quality printed materials under a tight production schedule.

The project included:

  • Custom presentation books for exhibition attendees
  • Large-format display graphics for gallery presentation
  • Color-critical production for design-focused content
  • Durable materials suitable for public exhibition
  • Fast turnaround to meet the NYCxDESIGN installation schedule

As with many exhibition and event projects, deadlines were fixed and could not move. Every component needed to arrive on time and ready for installation.

Book Printing with Perfect Binding

For the exhibition publication, Design Trust required a premium presentation piece that would effectively communicate the project’s research, findings, and design recommendations.

The books were produced using our advanced HP Indigo 7K digital offset press, which delivers exceptional image quality and consistent color reproduction. The Indigo platform is particularly well suited for printing on uncoated and textured papers commonly specified by architects, designers, and cultural institutions.

Materials and Specifications

  • Cover: 100# White Eggshell Cover
  • Interior Pages: Smooth Matte Text Stock
  • Printing Method: HP Indigo 7K Digital Offset Printing
  • Binding Method: Perfect Binding

The textured eggshell cover provided a sophisticated tactile experience while maintaining excellent print quality. The smooth matte interior stock allowed photographs, diagrams, and design documentation to reproduce with clarity and precision.

The finished books featured professional perfect binding, creating a polished appearance suitable for a design exhibition while providing durability for repeated handling throughout the event.

Large Format Printing for Exhibition Displays

In addition to the books, Bestype produced a series of exhibition graphics designed to communicate key project concepts and findings within the gallery environment.

The displays were produced using high-resolution large format printing technology and printed on premium satin photo paper to achieve vibrant color, sharp typography, and detailed imagery.

The prints were then professionally mounted to foamcore, creating lightweight yet durable presentation boards suitable for gallery installation.

This combination of materials delivered a clean, professional presentation while maintaining the visual quality expected for a design-focused exhibition.

For museums, galleries, nonprofits, and design organizations, this type of wide format printing solution offers an effective way to transform research, data, and visual storytelling into engaging exhibition experiences.

Why Local NYC Printing Matters for Event and Exhibition Projects

When preparing for a major event such as NYCxDESIGN, timing is often as important as quality.

Working with a trusted local printer offers several advantages:

  • Faster turnaround times
  • Easier communication and project coordination
  • Physical proofing when required
  • Local pickup and delivery options
  • Reduced risk of shipping delays
  • Greater flexibility for last-minute changes

For organizations exhibiting in New York City, partnering with an experienced provider of NYC printing, event printing, and exhibition printing services can help ensure projects stay on schedule from concept through installation.

The Result

Despite the time-sensitive nature of the project, Bestype successfully delivered all presentation books and exhibition graphics on schedule for the opening of NYCxDESIGN.

The exhibition attracted designers, architects, advocates, policymakers, and members of the public interested in creating a more accessible and inclusive city. The printed materials played an important role in helping visitors engage with the project’s research, design concepts, and recommendations.

At Bestype, we understand that every exhibition, event, and installation is mission-critical. Whether we’re producing book printing, perfect binding, large format printing, or complete event printing packages, our goal is always the same: deliver exceptional quality on time, every time.
